Welcome to 2026, where stating the obvious has become an act of political defiance.
Yep, we live in an age where simply saying that biological men shouldn’t compete in women’s sports is enough to spark ferocious outrage, even though that would have struck virtually everyone as self-evident not very long ago.
Exhibit A: Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham.
Sitting down? Last month Cunningham said that men shouldn’t compete in women's sports:
"I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn't have to go against biological men."
Cue the outrage.

Lesbians, non-binaries and straight morons tore their basketball jerseys, gnashed their teeth and denounced the player who simply doesn't want to share a locker room with “girls’ with penises or lose her teeth when a man - wearing a weave and fake eyelashes - elbows her in the mouth.
Sophie’s a bigot, they wailed. She hates trans people.
Sheesh.
Cunningham’s own coach, Stephanie White, when asked about the controversy, said she wasn’t “educated” enough to offer an opinion but that she didn’t believe “exclusion” was the answer.
What a coward.
And teammate Caitlin Clark left her out to dry too, playing coy when asked about Cunningham’s “controversial” take on women’s sports.
An opposing coach, Minnesota Lynx coach Cheryl Reeves, taunted Cunningham by showing up for a game against the Fever sporting a T-shirt that read “ “Trans Kids Belong”
Not in women’s sports, Cheryl. And there’s no such thing as a “trans kid.” Leave the children alone.
It ought to be an absolute scandal that women who coach women’s sports would even entertain the notion that men pretending to be women should be on their teams.
Sophie Cunningham is a brave woman. It’s one thing to denounce men invading women’s sports after an athlete is out of the game as Martina Navratilova and Riley Gaines have done. But Cunningham is an active player and so far not a single woman in the ironically named WOMEN’S National Basketball Association has come to her defense.
To her credit, tennis phenom Aryna Sabalenka made a similar statement, without all the blowback.
So far, there are no men in the WNBA. It’s coming. Some mediocre college player who doesn’t have a shot at the NBA will Soon realize that if he says he’s female and slaps on some lipstick he can become the high scorer on a women’s team.
Someone like Julie Tetart in France. Tetart is a man who announced he was trans in 2021. He joined a women’s league and is dominating the sport. Take a look at this “woman.” Is it any wonder?
This is what will happen to the WNBA in five years if Sophie Cunningham can’t infuse the league with common sense.
Here’s something even more controversial than Cunningham’s statement: Men can’t become women. And women can’t become men. Oh they can lop off body parts and chug hormones, but a man is a man and a woman is a woman.
No, “trans women” are not women.
These men need to stay OUT of women’s sports.
