Democrats Embark On Arrest Theater

There was an old saying in the newspaper business that as soon as something happened three times you could declare it a TREND.

So I’m going to say it: Democrats are now engaging in “Arrest Theater.” This is especially popular with lefties running for office.

The magic number three happened yesterday.

Here’s how it works: Lefties provoke a  confrontation with ICE or law enforcement, get arrested and then hold tearful pressers where they accuse Trump of being Hitler.

Rinse. Repeat.

It’s happened three times now and garnering attention from the fawning left-wing media, so look for it to happen over and over again.

This is what happens when the left elects theater kids to public office.

Arrest theater began with the May 9th arrest of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka. He was collared outside an ICE detention facility after he and other Democrat politicians rushed past security and through the gates.

Baraka became a hero with Democrats after the arrest. The trespass charges were eventually dropped.

 Last week a little-known - and unrecognizable - California Senator, Alex Padilla, was wrestled to the ground and handcuffed after he interrupted a Homeland Security briefing. Not only did he heckle Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noel, but he began to approach the lectern where she was speaking. When security attempted to stop him, he began pushing back.

Padilla’s been bawling and mewling in public ever since the incident, pushing the narrative that the Trump administration is manhandling its political opponents. 

Puh-leez.

Come at a cabinet security and you’re going to be tackled and cuffed. Lay hands on a law enforcement officer and you’ll be arrested.

It doesn’t matter that you’re insisting you’re a U.S. Senator.

If you’re familiar with the details of Saturday’s awful political assassinations in Minnesota you know that the perpetrator was impersonating a law enforcement officer when he went to the homes of elected officials. Not only was it not clear that Padilla actually WAS a senator, even senators need to refrain from threatening behavior in public.

The Democrat hat trick was complete yesterday with the arrest of New York City Comptroller and candidate for mayor, Brad Lander. He was arrested an handcuffed in the federal immigration courthouse after he allegedly attempted to interfere with the arrest of an illegal immigrant.

Lander’s mayoral campaign no doubt got a boost from his “martyrdom” on behalf of illegal aliens. In a crowded primary field - there are 11 contenders - this could be a tipping point. 

This nutty behavior will not stop. The only thing Democrats love more than abortion and illegal aliens are headlines.

Pass the popcorn. Arrest Theater is underway.
