San Francisco’s Big Idea: Free Booze For Drunks
As we draw dangerously close to the Democratic takeover of the Old Dominion, we Virginians would be wise to cast our gaze to California - where all bad leftist policies start - to see what’s coming our way.
Last time the left-wing controlled Virginia we got masks on toddlers, closed schools and energy policies tied to the Golden State’s.
Who knows what’s coming this time.
How about free booze for drunks?
San Francisco is under fire now that someone with an abacus figured out that the city’s “managed alcohol program,” which has nurses handing out beer and shots of vodka to stumblebums costs taxpayers about $77,000 per alcoholic. The program is supposed to cut down on ER visits.
The free booze program was born during covid, when most of the country developed hysteria and lost all common sense. And like so many other covid-era projects, it continues to be funded to a tune of $5 million a year. Oh, and it serves a grand total of 65 people.
Do the math with me: Five mil divided by 65 comes to a whopping $76,923.
What are those nurses pouring, Grey Goose?
This is just one more leftist harm reinforcement program, where no attempt is made to help the drunks get sober. Instead, taxpayers are funding this program that will ultimately kill its customers.
While sobriety isn’t the aim, a social worker, quoted in a Fox news story said they try to help the drunks connect with art and poetry groups so they can learn to express themselves.
That’s California for you.
Adam Nathan, CEO of an AI company and chair of the Salvation Army San Francisco, made several social media posts criticizing what he witnessed at the location.
Inside the lobby, they had kegs set up to taps where they were basically giving out free beer to the homeless who've been identified with AUD (Alcohol Use Disorder)," Nathan wrote on X after visiting the hotel in Tenderloin where homeless alcoholics are served.
Let’s hope no one in Spanberger’s administration hears about this. Then again, free booze would have helped some of us cope with the despotic Northam administration last time the left was running the commonwealth.
