Virginia Delegate Does Nothing to Stop the Illegal Alien Crimewave—But He Still Wants Your Vote?

Virginia Delegate Does Nothing to Stop the Illegal Alien Crimewave—But He Still Wants Your Vote?

Virginia Beach Democrat Delegate Michael Feggans is silent on the threat of violent illegal aliens in our community. He doesn't deserve to be reelected.

Virginia Beach, my home for over 30 years, used to be one of the safest cities in the nation. Now we're overrun with illegal aliens committing vicious, violent crimes—two people were recently killed, while three young children were raped and sexually abused. As a former school board member, I've watched our community suffer under open borders policies. As a journalist, I've exposed literally hundreds of similar crimes across our commonwealth. I know everyone's tense, waiting for the next attack.

Yet Virginia Beach Delegate Michael Feggans (D) won't respond to his constituents' concerns. Instead, he demands their vote in November—so he can continue pushing Democrat policies that reward illegal immigrants who break our laws and threaten our families.

In contrast, Feggans' Republican opponent, Tim Anderson, has been outspoken about the need to protect Virginians. He vocally opposes sanctuary policies that protect illegal alien criminals.

It's just more proof that only Republicans stand between Virginia and total chaos—and if we don't retake the House of Delegates, we'll only get more crime. I've seen it firsthand.

Four Recent Violent Crimes Rock the Community

On the morning of Saturday, September 27th, I was running errands near my home in Virginia Beach when I noticed multiple police vehicles blocking the entrance to a shopping center in an upscale neighborhood—the same shopping center where I was planning to meet friends for dinner that very evening.

I later learned the police were responding to a murder that took place in the parking lot, just hours before I drove by.

A 21-year-old illegal alien from Nicaragua, Cesar Nadin Bermudez Evans, was arrested for allegedly gunning down 20-year-old Juelle Morton. I obtained court records showing Bermudez Evans lived just a few miles from my home. He claims his mother lives in a nearby city and he worked construction "under the table" for just $2,600 a month.

Amazingly, that same gunman had been pulled over in nearby Norfolk in June for speeding. Police discovered he didn't have a driver's license, yet they let him go. Five months later, he was arrested for murder.

There's more. On Aug. 23rd, a previously deported Guatemalan, Erwin Marroquin Herrara, allegedly killed 37-year-old Steven White II after striking him with a car head-on on London Bridge Road—a road I travel frequently. Herrera was charged with DUI, manslaughter, and possession of false identification. Court records indicate he told police he had two beers and 4 shots of tequila before the crash.

In late 2024, a Virginia Beach family hired a contractor to work on their bathroom in the Windsor Woods section of the city. Little did they know the contractor— Ricardo Leonel Mejia, an illegal alien from El Salvador—was sneaking into their home at night and serially raping their 11-year-old daughter.

Court records reveal the girl's mother went to check on her daughter prior to going to bed. She attempted to open the door, but found it locked, so she used a knife to pry the door open. The mother found the 34-year-old naked Ricardo Mejia lying in her daughter's bed. She screamed for her husband and Mejia jumped out the window—but not before the mother recognized him as the contractor who'd been working on their home.

Her father told the court his daughter suffers from "pain in her womb." He said it has been traumatic for his family and they "are always thinking about what someone might be doing to our children."

Mejia had already been charged with reckless driving in 2017 in nearby Newport News, but there's no indication he was ever referred to ICE. There is now an active ICE detainer— thanks to Republican Sheriff Rocky Holcomb's cooperation with ICE—but that didn't come soon enough to protect an innocent little girl.

In September, 45-year-old Jorge Alberto Manzanarez—an illegal alien from Honduras doing "side work with a construction company"—was arrested for multiple counts of child sexual abuse. Court documents reveal his two stepchildren reported the abuse to their foster parents, claiming he touched them in their private areas and "put his thing" in one of them.

Why is Feggans Silent?

I reached out to Del. Feggans about his plan to stop illegal alien violence. Three of these four crimes took place in his district, after all, while the fourth was just outside it. Feggans provided no response.

In just the past two months, Virginia Beach cops have arrested 29 illegal aliens who've either been turned over to ICE or are being held on ICE detainers. Their alleged crimes include driving while intoxicated, larceny, child rape, murder, and more. We're blessed with a Republican Sheriff, Rocky Holcomb, who's working with ICE; but his department is short 51 deputies, hampering his ability to go after illegal aliens.

But Feggans prefers us not to use that term. Last year, he joined virtually the entire Democrat caucus in the House of Delegates in voting to remove the legal term "alien" from the entire code of Virginia when referring to non-citizens. Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) thankfully vetoed the bill.

Feggans, undismayed, also voted last year to prohibit anyone from inquiring about a defendant's immigration status during a court case. Fortunately, Gov. Youngkin also vetoed that bill.

If Democrats retain control in the legislature and gain the governor's mansion, there will be no ability to stop their radical sanctuary policies that seek to protect illegal aliens.

Democrats, led by gubernatorial nominee Abigail Spanberger, have indicated they would revoke Gov. Youngkin's executive order that expands law enforcement's ability to work with federal authorities to get these monsters off Virginia's streets.

A 2019 report estimated 16,000 illegal aliens living in Virginia Beach. That was before the open border policies of the Democrats allowed tens of millions more into the U.S. and across Virginia.

President Trump, Gov. Youngkin, and Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears are working to seal the border and deport these criminals, but they need more resources to finish the job in once-safe cities like Virginia Beach—not less.

If Michael Feggans won't step up and give our law enforcement what they need, he needs to go.
