I shouldn’t know this and neither should you. This is the sort of personal information that couples normally share only with their closest friends and family. Not only do we know about her egg retrieval antics, but we got to watch AOC inject herself with hormones.

Usually, this procedure is the first step toward in vitro fertilization for infertile couples, but increasingly it’s being used by wealthy career women who want to postpone children until it’s more convenient. They worry that by the time they’ve achieved success and are finally ready to have kids they’ll be fresh out of eggs.

AOC has been engaged for five years to her college boyfriend, Riley Roberts, although TMZ is reporting that the couple has split.

When asked why she was being so public about her eggs, AOC said she hoped to “normalize” the procedure for other women.

News Flash, AOC: Normal women will have a hard time coming up with the loot. Despite an executive order by Donald Trump making IVF more affordable, the initial cost of egg retrieval is estimated at between $10,000 an $20,000. Often a second cycle is needed.

AOC’s Instagram spawned a rash of stories about egg freezing. The New York Times - so in touch with everyday people - interviewed Avni Barmen, 29, another wealthy single woman who froze her eggs last year.

I’m friends with a lot of really successful seven, eight, nine-figure female founders — they all do it,” Ms. Barman said in an interview. “To them, it’s like getting a designer bag — freezing your eggs, they cost the same — and that’s kind of the mentality around it.”

The Times interviewed Meg Quinn, another woman who went public with her egg journey eight years ago. Although she ultimately got pregnant and had a healthy baby, her egg freezing episode was fraught with problems.

At $16,000 for the initial cycle, which produced only seven of the 18 frozen eggs her doctor had hoped for. She was devastated. The doctor suggested she complete one or two more cycles, but she couldn’t bear even the idea of it, emotionally or financially.

The Times describes the multi-step medical procedure this way:

A woman must inject a cocktail of hormonal medications into her abdomen over a period of eight to 12 days. A doctor then retrieves the eggs by a needle inserted through the vaginal wall while the patient is sedated.

Mature eggs are flash frozen in liquid nitrogen, potentially preserving them for many years. It is essentially the first step of in vitro fertilization, which involves thawing the eggs, fertilizing them in the lab and creating embryos.

Normally, I wouldn’t comment on a woman’s decision to freeze her eggs, but since she blasted the procedure on Instagram, AOC is asking for commentary.

Two questions arise: Why is she freezing eggs and why did she decide to get started on social media?

The answers are obvious: AOC’s preparing to run for president in 2028, when she’s 39 (her birthday is in October). She’s signaling to supporters that elected office is more important than children. Should she win and serve eight years, AOC would be 46 when she left office.

Clearly, she plans to thaw out her eggs when she’s in her early 50s - maybe her 60s, who knows? - and start a family. What could possibly go wrong?

AOC is a political animal and not a smart one. Sharing her expensive, elective medical procedures on Instagram isn’t a sign that she’s presidential material. It’s a sign that she’s just another social media addict with no boundaries.

While most lefties are chanting about affordability, AOC is taking a different approach. She’s flaunting her wealth. Odd for a Democratic Socialist, unless of course, her next move is to declare egg freezing a “right” and something that should be “free.”
