Louise Lucas In Big Trouble: Money Laundering and Racketeering Charges
There she goes.
No sooner was Democrat party boss Louise Lucas arrested and charged with 7 federal crimes yesterday including drug trafficking, money laundering and racketeering then she started with the same old tired tropes:
Lucas played the racism card.
The 82-year-old great-grandmother card.
The I-started-in-the-shipyards card.
The it’s-my-political-opponents-bullying-me card.
Yawn.
Sorry, madam. You have no one to blame but yourself. For 42 years you’ve represented the people of Portsmouth. During that time the city has become a nest of crime and poverty, empty storefronts, shrinking population and failing schools. Meanwhile, you and your family live like Portsmouth royalty, allegedly running shady businesses and illegally funneling loot to your pockets and political campaigns while you allegedly used your powerful public office to protect yourself so you can flounce around in town in gaudy fur coats.
You ARE old, Louise. And you ARE greedy. And the arrogant “10 to fucking 1” chant that you led last winter when you attempted to gerrymander Republicans out of their congressional districts is leading to a different chant:
Ten to fucking life.
And some of us are here for it.
(That’s a real possibility, by the way. Racketeering carries a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, so does money laundering. Marijuana distribution can get you 5 to 40. For an octogenarian, 20 years means life.)
Lucas and her dwindling number of supporters can cry about the timing of her arrest but the fact is, the investigation into this odious politician began under Biden.
Last May the Feds descended on Lucas’ businesses and carted out piles evidence. They also had phone recordings where Lucas and her family allegedly incriminated themselves. It took the FBI five more months to build a persuasive RICO case against the Democrat party boss. A federal grand jury indicted her and the feds allowed the old lady to turn herself in. No perp walk for the cameras, sadly, although she was smirking when she hustled out of the courthouse Thursday afternoon, surrounded by a phalanx of goons.
As the president pro tempore of the Virginia State Senate once again embarrasses the commonwealth with her contemptuous attitude and behavior, there is no need to show this gray-haired ghoul respect.
Very telling was the reaction of Virginia Dems to Lucas’ arrest. Instead of defending their pal - or insisting she’s innocent of gobbling up $5 million from her alleged crime syndicate - they all pivoted to a question of timing.
“Anytime you've got criminal charges like this, they're serious," said Mark Warner. "You're presumed innocent until the facts or the case proves otherwise."
"Why are they releasing this, what, 11 days before the election? Why didn't they do it earlier, or do it right after the election?"
Nice try, Mark. Fact is, every single Democrat in Virginia knew what Louise Lucas was and they were fine with it. They were afraid of her. Now all they’ve got is an objection to the timing of her arrest.
She isn’t on the ballot this fall. The timing is perfect.
