Cry Harder, Ilhan Omar.
Don’t worry. We hear you. We hear your whining. Your complaining. Your wailing and gnashing of teeth.
We hear your shouts of “It’s not fair! This is all political. Trump’s going after his political enemies.”
I’m talking about Ilhan Omar and her fans as they contemplate the raid on Omar’s Washington DC house earlier this week.
“This is an abuse of power..blah, blah, blah.”
Cry harder. Seems like yesterday that those of us on the right were saying the same things.
Where were these lovers of the law when Biden directed the feds to raid Rudy Giuliani’s house? Roger Stone’s?
What did they have to say when federal prosecutors dug up novel legal theories to come after Trump, to try to throw him in prison so he couldn’t run for president again? What did they do when states like Colorado tried to keep him off the ballot?
What were their thoughts when the feds were rifling through Melania’s underwear drawer at Mar-a-Lago?
Most were popping champagne, watching Steven Colbert declare that the raid on Trump’s Florida home was “just like Christmas.”
Well, Christmas came early for the right this year. Late actually. It’s long past time this corrupt, America-hating congresswoman from Minnesota was given a legal proctological exam. From her shadowy immigration story, to her cuteness with campaign funds to suspicions that she may be mixed up in the massive Somali fraud in Minnesota that’s bilked millions from American taxpayers, she’s a walking legal target.
Remember what Ilhan Omar was spewing when Jack Smith and Letitia James - two of the most partisan prosecutors in the country - were trying to toss Trump in prison?
Ilhan Omar was busy on social media back then, reminding us that “NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW.”
Karma, baby.
Let’s back up.
Ilhan Omar is the daughter of a Somali Army colonel. Essentially a warlord. After the Somali civil war in 1991, she and her father fled for their lives. First to a Kenyan refugee camp. Then to America in 1995 where Daddy was granted asylum as he reinvented himself as an educator.
In 2000 Daddy became a citizen and his daughter did too. He was able to claim citizenship for her because Ilhan was a minor.
Or was she?
It appears she was born in 1981 and would have been 18 at the time. Ineligible. (Omar allegedly had her staff change her birth year on official papers to 1982 after she was elected to Congress.) She claims to have no birth certificate, so how did she get citizenship at all?
In 2002 she married Ahmed Hirsi in a religious ceremony. They have three children.
They separated in 2008 and in 2009 she married Ahmed Said Elmi who is widely believed to be her brother to help get him into the country.
She and her brother/husband divorced and she remarried Hirsi in 2018.
They divorced in 2019. In 2020 she married an aide, Tim Mynett.
That’s four marriages and two possible cases of felony immigration fraud. Trouble is, the statute of limitations may have run on those crimes.
Yet a Democrat judge in a Democrat district signed a search warrant for her home this week. Clearly he saw evidence of other crimes.
What’s galling about Omar is that she’s living the American dream. From the wasteland that is Somali, she arrives in America as a kid and is elected to Congress. You’d think she’d be super patriotic. You would be wrong. She’s spent her time in the national eye criticizing the country and siding with our enemies.
If it’s shown that Omar committed immigration fraud she could be stripped of her citizenship without a trial and deported.
Then she could go back to Mogadishu.
