The Book Jake Tapper Should Have Written: “Mea Culpa”
I stood before a pyramid of books in Barnes & Noble last Tuesday, trying to make a decision.
Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson’s new expose on the cover-up of Biden’s mental decline - “Original Sin” - had been released that day. On one hand I wanted to read it. On the other, I hated putting money in the hands of one of the most atrocious members of the dissembling American media.
Ultimately, I saw the $5 off sticker as a sign. I’d blow 27 bucks - instead of $32 - on the hardback so you wouldn’t have to.
If Tapper had given the book an honest title - podcaster Andrew Klavan suggests “Oh My God, I Lied About Everything!” - the purchase would have been worth it.
Unfortunately, Tapper and Thompson manage to tell the story of how top Democrat operatives plotted, lied and tried to conceal Biden’s mental impairments, yet the authors never turn their attention to the callow members of the media who ignored what the rest of the nation could see.
They want us to believe that the legacy media is made up of smart, good-hearted scribes who simply took the word of Biden’s inner circle that there was nothing wrong with the man who repeatedly fell, took almost 600 vacation days, could barely concoct a coherent sentence and “called a lid” on his workday by 4 most of the time.
Nothing to see here, they assured us at the time. To suggest the president was turning into a turnip was mean-spirited and ageist. The alternative media and Republicans are just mean-spirited Trump fans who like making fun of the elderly and those with lisps.
What about those video clips of the president staring vacantly into the distance, mouth agape? His incoherent mumbling? The fact that he ducked the press on a daily basis?
Cheap fakes, Tapper and CNN told us.
I saw Biden’s descent into la-la land. You saw it. Everyone with eyes saw it.
Yet somehow the folks paid to cover the White House, professionals who actually rubbed elbows with the old man from Delaware and whose job it was to tell the truth to the American people never noticed that the president was barely functioning.
When they did have access to Biden, the fawning press corps shouted probing questions like, “What flavor ice cream is that?” when they saw the old man licking a cone.
What made the press corps stubbornly ignore what was right in front of their eyes? Their communal hatred of Donald Trump.
They feared that pointing out that the president was turning into a bivalve would somehow elevate Trump.
Still, Tapper’s book dishes up some inside new information about the machinations of scheming Democrats after the disastrous Trump debate as they plunged knives into the back of the president. While they told the public they had Biden’s back, behind the scenes they were plotting his demise.
The book does another thing. It reinforces the picture of Biden family as a conglomerate of liars and grifters. They lied about Beau’s terminal cancer diagnosis, they lied about Hunter’s corrupt business dealings and they lied about Joe.
Especially Jill.
The former first lady who pranced around with her idiotic doctorate in education (read her dissertation sometime and see if she deserves the honorific “Dr”) truly is the worst woman in the world.
She knew that her husband had descended into some twilight of dementia yet she urged him to run for re-election and was angry at anyone who suggested he wasn’t up to the job. She put her own selfish love of the trappings of power ahead of the country and ahead of the man she supposedly loves.
Not only will Biden go down in history as America’s worst president, his wife will go down as one of the most loathsome.
Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson? Look, they penned an interesting book with details many of us political junkies didn’t know. But they get no credit for exposing the biggest the political scandal in American history AFTER Biden withdrew from the race and Kamala Harris lost the election.
Biden is vegetating now in Delaware so it’s safe to expose the web of lies that helped him win the 2020 election and allowed him to stay in office long after his faculties were gone.
Had Biden stayed in the race and somehow won, this book would not have been written.
The so-called Fourth Estate has a duty to keep the public informed. Even when it means telling the truth about their political pets. The legacy media didn’t “miss” the story of Biden’s cognitive decline, as Thompson claimed at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner last month.
The corporate media refused to report the story. They actively worked with political operatives to keep the public in the dark. They were invested in electing Democrats.
What does the Tapper/Thompson book prove? You really don’t hate the legacy media enough.
