West Point and Naval War College Professor Calls the America First Movement a 'Hateful Cult'
…and bragged that he would celebrate President Trump’s death with champagne.
Retired Army Colonel Frank Sobchak is an example of someone who should never be allowed to instruct the next generation of military leaders. Yet he’s an associate professor at the Naval War College and the chair of irregular warfare studies at West Point.
The Restoration of America Foundation created a website to expose woke senior military leaders and employees who push extremist agendas harmful to the nation. We called Sobchak out in July on RestoretheMilitary.com for his activist rhetoric. Just a few weeks later he bragged about it.
Sobchak’s social media is filled with hateful, Trump derangement syndrome statements. He reposted an assertion that the White House and Republican Party are fascists. In June, Sobchak referred to the War Department as "pathological liars.”
Is Sobchak Encouraging Treason?
In March 2025, Sobchak published an article claiming President Trump would issue future illegal military orders and demanding senior military leaders prepare for "what they should do if they face an illegal or unethical order." Sobchak claimed Trump would violate the Constitution by somehow seeking a third term—arguing the President was acting like a king.
"It is critical that uniformed officers begin having quiet, but professional discussions on what they would do if they faced a variety of these scenarios," Sobchak wrote. These statements are especially egregious because he is currently a professor of military officers.
In a rebuttal article, retired Marine Corps special operations officer Charlie Black called out the dangerous rhetoric of Sobchak, writing:
. . . presumptively assuming that President Trump will issue unconstitutional, or illegal, orders to the US military sets a very dangerous precedent. Such precedent will subsequently open pandora's box—any serving military member might well question all orders, at all levels of command. This is a disastrous proposition for an institution that functions under delegated Presidential authority and is built around discipline and order.
Black accurately points out that Sobchak's encouragement of military leaders to have quiet conversations about how they may disobey orders could be treasonous.
Sobchak's Politics
A majority of Sobchak's military career was spent as a legislative liaison to Congress and as a writer and director for an "Iraqi Freedom study group." Then he moved into academia, teaching at West Point, the Naval War College, and Tufts University.
Sobchak ran an unsuccessful political campaign in 2021 for a Massachusetts school board. On his campaign social media page, he promoted a picture of himself with Barack Obama, advocated for masking and vaccines, and even bragged he was "fully vaccinated."
"Diversity, equity, and inclusion are critical components of developing our children's health and well-being," Sobchak declared, "as well as helping them become good people and global citizens." Multiple times he emphasized the importance of children being "global citizens," not American citizens, and hailed Massachusetts as the "Athens of the world."
In a campaign video, Sobchak reflected that he should've become a teacher instead of joining the military. In another interview, he explained that his father questioned why he would choose to join the Army, claiming it "was for stupid people." Sobchak agreed—quipping that his father "wasn't entirely wrong."
Call for Removal
Doug Truax, founder and CEO of the Restoration of America Foundation and RestoretheMilitary.com, is calling for War Department leadership to fire Sobchak immediately. Truax, a West Point graduate and former Army Ranger, is passionate about restoring America's military to being the most lethal force in the world. Truax told Restoration News:
The U.S. military is not a social sciences experiment. Individuals like Frank Sobchak who push a social justice political agenda must immediately be removed from any position related to the military.
Encouraging officers to defy the orders of their Commander-in-Chief is at best conspiratorial and at worst treasonous.
RestoretheMilitary.com details the problems in today's military along with solutions to overcome decades of bad leadership and legislation. Thanks to President Trump and War Secretary Hegseth, America is back on the right track, but more must be done to restore the U.S. military to greatness.
