Pope Leo IV: Turning Into Francis.
OK, the honeymoon is over. I - and I suspect millions of other American Catholics - are metaphorically breaking up with Pope Leo IV.
The first American pope is proving to be just as anti-American as the last one. Leo isn’t the upgrade we thought we were getting once Francis died.
No one’s asking him to stand up and salute our flag. Just be consistent when it comes to scolding countries for policies. That isn’t happening.
The Vatican was taken over years ago by globalists. The anti-American bias that tainted almost every statement emanating from Rome and its lackey American bishops since the early days of Francis is now being amplified by the new pope.
According to the BBC, Pope Leo IV just issued his strongest condemnation yet of the Trump administration’s efforts to deport illegals.
“Emerging to address a bank of TV cameras outside his papal retreat at Castel Gandolfo and offering to answer "one or two questions", Pope Leo XIV said there were people who have lived in the US "for years and years never causing problems, who have been deeply affected" by Trump's hardline policy on migration.
Speaking in English, and reaching a US audience directly, he reiterated the Catholic belief that every Christian will ultimately be judged on how they welcomed "the foreigner".
"I was struck by how direct his reference was because he's obviously talking about the ICE round-ups," Catholic historian Austen Ivereigh told the BBC, referring to the immigration enforcement body in the US.
"It's very strong."
Pity there wasn’t similarly strong statements condemning American politicians (especially so-called Catholics) who are responsible for an estimated 1 million abortions every year in the U.S.
Just this week the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops released a video condemning the Trump admininstration’s efforts to deport millions of illegal aliens who were allowed into the country during Biden’s lawless term in office.
Why is Catholic clergy so suddenly exorcised about immigration when they twiddled their thumbs as so-called Catholic politicians shamelessly pranced around the Vatican and hobhobbed with clergy while supporting abortion-until-birth laws? Why did they seem uninterested as a massive human and drug trafficking industry grew unfettered during the last administration?
With the church’s assistance, I might add.
Money, folks. I am sad to say, this is all about cash.
They want their USAID money back. It’s that simple.
Well, the majority of Americans don’t want forced illegal immigration.
During the Obama and Biden administrations, the Catholic Church became a de facto federal contractor, slurping up billions of taxpayer dollars through Catholic Charities and Catholic Relief with programs to resettled illegals.
The Church directly helped the grotesque human trafficking industry that boomed during the Biden administration.
When President Trump signed a January executive order ending Taxpayer Subsidization of Open Borders, the taxpayer-to-church spigot was turned off.
Catholic Charities was reportedly the recipient of $4.7 billion a year.
Cue the sudden umbrage from Rome.
Someone needs to remind out-of-touch church leaders that while the Pope lives in the safety of the Vatican and bishops live in their own ivory towers, we are living with millions of unvetted immigrants roaming our streets, many of whom are violent gang members, murderers and rapists. Even our highways are less safe because illegals have somehow obtained commercial drivers licenses and are killing motorists.
Worse, thanks to greedy non-governmental agencies, the Biden administration “lost” about 300,000 kids who were trafficked into our country and passed around like candies to God-knows-whom. At least 11,488 kids were placed with unvetted sponsors and another 79,143 were tossed to individuals without homes studies. The rest are lost and Tom Homan has made it his mission to find these kids.
“Secure borders save lives,” Homan said. “I wish the Catholic Church could understand that.”
Homan, by the way, is a practicing Catholic and he’s correct that the deportations will save American lives.
I’m awaiting the statement from the bishops that excommunicates all Catholics who support abortion measures and that denies the Eucharist to politicians who vote for liberal abortion laws.
If history is any predictor, it won’t happen.
