You REALLY Don’t Hate The Left-Wing Media Enough
Chew on this: Had Pete Hegseth not saved his 1999 acceptance letter from West Point, the left-wing media would be on fire with a false news story today and you’d be reading this screaming headline in the legacy media:
“Trump’s Nominee For Defense Secretary Lied About West Point Acceptance.”
Furthermore, Hegseth’s nomination as Defense Secretary would be torpedoed and far-left radicals would be doing their happy dance.
Mission accomplished.
As it happens, Hegseth saved his 24-year-old acceptance letter and the left-wing media has AGAIN been exposed. Not only for targeting Trump’s cabinet nominees like heat-seeking missiles, but also for missing the REAL story.
Here’s what happened. ProPublica, a left-wing “news” outlet, decided - for whatever reason - to investigate Hegseth’s claim that he was accepted to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point but chose to attend Princeton instead.
Why they suspected him of lying is unknown, other than the fact they’re frantically trying to sink his nomination. Hegseth is clearly a smart guy, he earned degrees from not one, but two Ivy League schools. Why is it so far-fetched that West Point would have wanted him as well?
Then again, we know why the left is collectively losing its mind over Pete Hegseth: They fear Trump is serious about draining the swamp and they’re terrified that will mean a proven warrior - Hegseth - will end the squishy wokeness that has infected the military, led to abysmal recruiting numbers and has weakened our national defense.
The best way to sink Hegseth? A hit piece.
In a series of posts on X ProPublica editor Jesse Eisinger attempted to take a bow for killing Hegseth story before it was published. In reality, he should examine his motivation for pursuing it and be embarrassed by missing the much bigger story, which I’ll get to in a moment.
Eisinger claims his publication contacted the West Point public affairs office and asked if Hegseth had ever been accepted to the academy. An unnamed West Point spokesperson said no.
No, that’s not journalism. Journalism would require that your reporter write a scathing story about liars at West Point.
The reporter claimed that he called the academy a second time and was assured that Hegseth had never applied to West Point.
Then someone from ProPublica phoned Hegseth’s lawyer and told him they were running a story about Hegseth’s lies. The lawyer became angry.
Next, an aide to Hegseth contacted ProPublica and said Pete had a copy of his acceptance letter. The reporter asked to see it and it was sent.
Someone from ProPublica called West Point again. This time a spokesperson said yes, in fact Hegseth HAD applied and been accepted but had not attended the academy. (That’s exactly what Hegseth has always maintained.) West Point apologized for its misstatements.
ProPublica seems to think it deserves a Pulitzer for a near-miss on publishing a completely false story.
Fact is, they completely missed the real story. Then again, that story doesn’t prop up the left’s narrative.
Someone needs to ask why officials at West Point lied not once, but twice, about Trump’s nominee to be Secretary of Defense. Oh, and what are the names of these “spokespersons” who assured ProPublica “100%” that Hegseth had never been accepted?
The big question: Why was the Army willing to lie to keep Hegseth away from the Pentagon?
Wait. I think I know the answer to that. If you’ve been listening to Hegseth you know how he feels about DEI. He’s concerned that the military academies have been infected with it and that’s where the contagion has its genesis.
In several interviews Hegseth has been adamant that he wants to purge DEI and CRT from the military, including the academies, which breed military leaders.
“Any general that was involved in the administration, that was involved in any of the DEI and woke shit [has] got to go. Either you are in for war fighting and that is it; this is the only litmus test we care about. You’ve got to get DEI and CRT shit out of the military academies so you are not training young officers to be baptized in this type of thing.”
The fact that the left is going back to Hegseth’s high school records trying to find dirt on the nominee is a sign that he’s the right man for the job.
Think carefully about this: If Hegseth had been unable to produce a 24-year-old West Point acceptance letter he would have been ruined by a single hit job from the vindictive left-wing media that is desperate to keep away from America’s military. And still they aren’t asking the right questions about West Point.
Reason enough to confirm him.
