Save Women’s Sports

Save Women’s Sports

It’s been a bad week for women.

On Sunday, USA Today named Rachel Levine, the U.S. Assistant Health Secretary who spent 53 years as Richard Levine, was married for 25 years and who transitioned to female in 2011, as one of its “Women of the Year.”

Why does the left do things like this? Just to annoy us?

Look, bless Rachel Levine. I don’t care what adults do with their bodies or what they call themselves. Be happy, that’s my motto.

But Rachel Levine is not a woman - test her DNA  and get back to me - and by selecting Levine as one of the “Women” of the year this newspaper diminishes biological women who may have equal - or superior - accomplishments.

Fact is, Levine most likely landed the job at Health and Human Services because the woke Biden administration wanted to be the first to ask the Senate to confirm a transgendered person.  Prior to this recent appointment Levine served as Pennsylvania’s Health Secretary. In that role, Levine - like Andrew Cuomo in New York - created reckless and dangerous policies that sent Covid positive patients into nursing homes.

Naturally, Levine’s own mother was quietly removed from such a facility just in time..

U.S. Senator Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania voted against the Levine confirmation. Not because of transgenderism. Because Levine was unqualified.

“In Pennsylvania, the pandemic struck seniors in nursing homes disproportionately hard compared to other states. This was due in part to poor decisions and oversight by Dr. Levine and the Wolf administration, he said.

“Moreover, the commonwealth’s extended economic lockdown that Dr. Levine advocated for was excessive, arbitrary in nature, and has led to a slower recovery. While I appreciate Dr. Levine’s service and responsiveness to my office over the past year, she has not earned a promotion to help lead the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and I cannot support her confirmation.”

If I had a subscription to USA Today I’d cancel.

The NCAA Swim and Dive Championships are underway in Atlanta on the campus of Georgia Tech. Unsurprisingly, Lia Thomas, a transgendered swimmer from the University of Pennsylvania, is killing it.

As a male swimmer in a Speedo at Penn, Thomas was ranked #462 in the nation. Competing in a tank suit against women? Numero uno.

Men and women compete in separate categories in almost all sports for a reason: Men are bigger and stronger than females. Separation levels the playing field. But not when we pretend that men are women.

It’s absolutely unfair for a biological male to compete against women and 16 of Thomas’ teammates have said so, anonymously of course. They fear being labeled transphobic.

That seems to be common.

According to news reports, a swimmer from Virginia Tech who finished 17th in the 500-meter freestyle qualifying heats on Wednesday was distraught about the situation but unwilling to speak out. You see, only 16 swimmers go to the finals.

This female competitor, who no doubt spent thousands of hours training and competing at the highest levels, was bumped from the competition by a biological male who decided after three seasons on the men’s team at Penn to transition to female.

It’s wrong. It needs to stop.

“I’m a woman, just like anybody else on the team,” Thomas declared in a recent interview with Sports Illustrated.

No, you’re not a woman just like anybody else on the team, Lia. Look in the mirror. You absolutely dwarf the competition. You went through puberty as a male and you have physical advantages over females.

Where’s the sportsmanship in a biological male beating biological females?

Allowing males to compete against females is like letting varsity football players compete in pee-wee football and then exchanging high-fives when the teens trounce the kids.

Starting this weekend in Atlanta, women swimmers should remain on the blocks when the signal is given for the start. Refuse to swim against biological males. That’s the only way to put an end to these nonsensical rules.

With feminists sucking their thumbs on the sidelines, and sport governing bodies afraid of offending the LGBTQ community, the brave athletes themselves are going to have to take a stand if they want to save women’s sports.
