Tulsi's Seen Enough

It’s hard to pick a moment when I was won over by Tulsi Gabbard, former Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii and former vice chair of the DNC who sought her party’s nomination for president in 2020:

Was it the exquisite moment when she kneecapped that phony from California, Kamala Harris, during the Democratic debates?

Or was it when Hillary accused her of being a Russian agent?

Or was it the time I was a guest on Tony Macrini’s radio show (before the Kerry and Mike Show existed) when we got to interview the candid presidential hopeful when she called into the show?

I particularly enjoyed it when Tony gambled that she’d be a good sport and confessed that he played the theme from “Wonder Woman” whenever her name was mentioned on the air.

“I love it!” she responded.

Then again, yesterday sealed the deal, when Gabbard finally left the political party she’d belonged to her entire life, correctly pointing out that it had been taken over by an “elite cabal of warmongers.”

She’s right. And if you thought rabid leftists were going to simply shrug when one of their own turned her back on the party, you haven’t been paying attention.

Politics is a blood sport.

Note that less than 12 hours after Tulsi posted this video there were almost 70,000 replies. Many were from folks like me welcoming her into the fold of Americans with common sense who may have voted for Democrats in the past but who loathe what the party is now.

Others were ugly. They were almost uniformly from the Ukraine-flag-in-their-profile crowd. They spewed seething, unchecked, profane anger at the former congresswoman with a conscience. Even accusing this 41-year-old - who served her country in both Iraq and Kuwait and who is currently a Lt. Col. in the Army Reserves - of being a Russian asset.

Apparently you can’t oppose America’s $100 million-dollar-a-day support for Ukraine without being a tool of the Kremlin.

Fact is, I’m intrigued by Gabbard, but baffled by some of her positions. For example. she supported Bernie Sanders for president in 2016 and allied herself over the years with climate and gun control extremists.

When it comes down to it though, there are precious few Democrats willing to speak up and say their party has surrendered to the race baiters and the woke crazies and they can’t take it anymore.

Let’s appreciate common sense wherever it appears. Good for Tulsi.
