New York Times Beclowns Itself With Dueling Endorsements

New York Times Beclowns Itself With Dueling Endorsements

Make up your minds, you pretentious gasbags.

I’m talking about the editorial board of The New York Times. The only thing that pompous gang accomplished with its screwy dueling Democratic endorsements this week was to provide a solid argument in favor of scrapping newspaper editorial boards altogether.

A splendid cost-cutting idea, if I say so myself.

Not only does the world’s most prestigious editorial board spout left-wing nonsense daily, the beard tuggers at The Times couldn’t decide on the best candidate in the bowlful of nuts vying for the Democratic presidential nomination.

So they endorsed two.

Get a load of their zany logic:

Both the radical and the realist models warrant serious consideration. If there were ever a time to be open to new ideas, it is now. If there were ever a time to seek stability, now is it,” the editorial muses. “That’s why we’re endorsing the most effective advocates for each approach. They are Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar.

Gibberish.

This may sound odd, coming from someone who spent about five years of her newspaper career as a member of an editorial board, but these star chambers have passed their sell-by date.

The days of newspaper readers naively looking to the editorial page to tell them who to vote for are long gone.

At best, editorial boards alienate half the readership of any newspaper. At worst, they peddle half-baked ideas on behalf of out-of-touch publishers.

With much fanfare on Sunday night, The Times unveiled its endorsement for the Democratic primaries hoping, no doubt, to persuade the good people of Iowa to end their love affair with Bernie Sanders.

This is the second mainstream media organization in a week to try to undermine the Sanders campaign. It’s beginning to look like a coordinated effort.

Someone needs to tell The Times that voters don’t care about their endorsements. The paper supported Hillary Clinton in the 2008 primaries.

And in every presidential election since 1960 The Times backed the Democrat. Yep, they actually endorsed Jimmy Carter.

TWICE.

Reason enough to ignore their silly endorsements now.
