Why Can’t Women Bee Nice To Each Other?

Ladies, ladies. How about taking it down a notch?

You know, the sisterhood and all that.

Oh, who are we kidding? There is no sisterhood. And women are now using the same crude words men once used to degrade females. On each other.

Good times.

On Thursday I said I was shedding no tears for Roseanne Barr who was sacked by ABC over a racist Tweet directed at a woman in the Obama administration.

Today, it’s Samantha Bee’s turn for my no-sympathy vote.

Bee, who got her start on The Daily Show, has always had a nasty edge to her humor. But her latest spew, aimed at Ivanka Trump (apparently because Ms. Trump posted a sweet picture of herself with her infant son that outraged Bee and the rest of the left) was sick and irrational.

Samantha Bee, for those who aren’t hip and tuned into her weekly TBS show, “Full Frontal With Samantha Bee,” is a comic who saves her most venomous barbs for conservatives. Conservative women.

On Wednesday night Bee said something so vulgar and nasty about the president’s daughter that I won’t repeat it. Give it a Google and listen for yourself, if you must. Trust me, there was nothing funny or clever about it.

Worse, according to The New York Times, “The host’s remarks, including the epithet, were scripted. When the segment was broadcast, the offending word was bleeped out, but was left uncensored on the clip that was posted online. TBS removed the video from its site on Thursday afternoon.

“Full Frontal With Samantha Bee,” which airs at 10:30 on Wednesday nights, is taped at the CBS Broadcast Center in Midtown Manhattan late in the afternoon on the day of its broadcast — meaning that TBS had time to edit the segment.”

Consider THAT for a moment. This wasn’t just an ugly off-the-cuff improv bit by an edgy comedian. This was part of the show’s script, meaning that Bee and her writers thought this would add a little hilarity to the night’s entertainment.

It wasn’t until the public was howling - mostly because Roseanne had been fired for an offensive Tweet just the day before - and advertisers began to cancel, that Bee finally issued an apology.

On Thursday afternoon, she Tweeted this:  “I would like to sincerely apologize to Ivanka Trump and to my viewers for using an expletive on my show to describe her last night. It was inappropriate and inexcusable. I crossed a line, and I deeply regret it.”

The network issued a mea culpa of its own: “It was our mistake too and we regret it.”

Funny, how absconding advertisers cause instant regret.

Yet, as of Thursday evening, Bee still had a job.

Is this just a case of different networks, different standards? Or do liberals really get away with hateful speech while others don't?
